Our Work on the Sustainable Development Goals in Zambia
How the UN is supporting The Sustainable Development Goals in Zambia
The UN in Zambia is supporting the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the Zambia -UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2027. The UNSDCF’s development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting is co-led by the Zambian government and anchored in national development priorities. The UNSDCF is implemented through an integrated approach, which entails working across sectors and providing specialised interventions and advice to address complex multi-sectoral development challenges, aimed at securing transformational changes. It embodies the spirit of partnerships that are at the core of the 2030 Agenda - partnerships with the host Government and all stakeholders, including but not limited to civil society, academia, parliaments, the private sector, and bilateral partners - to leverage collective strengths and drive transformative change.
Being the instrument for planning and implementation of the UN development programme in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the UNSDCF will determine and reflect UN Zambia’s contributions to Zambia’s development agenda enshrined in the Eight National Development Plan (8NDP). This is in line with Member States' call for a reformed UN Development System to boost coordination to support countries in achieving the 2030 Agenda and reflects the contemporary relationship more accurately between governments and the UN development system in collaborating to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
